In January 2008 Jarmans Oak Stream and Wetland Site was planted, including the staking of the channel bank with live willow.  The following photos were taken yesterday, two and a half years later.  The first photo depicts a progression from the field crop (peanuts) to the rapidly growing sycamore trees, to the extremely rapidly growing black willow.  Dani is there for scaling, and gives you an idea of just how large the willows are!  Unbelievably, though the site was very moist, the stream channel had practically no water in it (third photo) as the surrounding vegetation sucks it out of the ground as it grows in the balmy July heat.
